Shoulder Rehabilitation

The shoulder is one of the most mobile—and complex—joints in the body. It allows you to reach, lift, push, pull, and carry. Because of this wide range of motion, it’s also highly vulnerable to injury, overuse, and instability.

Poor posture, repetitive computer or mobile use, contact sports, workplace injuries, and auto accidents can all contribute to shoulder pain, tightness, and weakness. Over time, these issues may lead to conditions such as:

  • Rotator cuff tendinitis or tears

  • Shoulder impingement

  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)

  • Muscle strains

  • Labral injuries

  • Post-surgical shoulder stiffness

We focus on identifying the root cause of your shoulder pain—not just treating the symptoms. A key part of successful shoulder rehabilitation is restoring proper scapular (shoulder blade) movement and coordination. When the shoulder blade moves correctly, the shoulder joint can function efficiently and without strain.

Our Treatment Approach May Include:

  • Skilled joint mobilization techniques

  • Scapular stabilization and retraining

  • Progressive strengthening exercises

  • Postural correction and ergonomic guidance

  • Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization

  • Manual therapy to relieve muscle tightness and improve mobility

  • Customized home exercise programs

Our goal is to reduce pain, restore mobility, rebuild strength, and help you safely return to work, sports, and daily activities with confidence.

Hand Therapy

Your hands and upper extremities are made up of intricate bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and nerves that work together to perform everyday activities—writing, typing, lifting, driving, cooking, and participating in sports. When pain, stiffness, weakness, or nerve symptoms develop, even simple tasks can become difficult.

At True North Physical Therapy, we provide evidence-based hand and upper extremity rehabilitation to restore strength, mobility, and function in the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand.

Conditions We Treat:

  • Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis

  • Carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome

  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow

  • Tendonitis and tendon injuries

  • Post-surgical tendon repair or tendon transfer

  • Fractures and post-immobilization stiffness

  • Nerve injuries and loss of sensation

  • Repetitive strain injuries

  • Shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand pain

Our Treatment Approach May Include:

  • Gentle joint mobilization to improve motion and circulation

  • Nerve gliding techniques to reduce compression symptoms

  • Progressive strengthening and endurance training

  • Stretching to restore flexibility

  • Scar management and soft tissue mobilization

  • Functional retraining to support daily and work activities

  • Education on ergonomics and joint protection strategies

Our goal is to reduce pain, restore dexterity and grip strength, improve nerve function, and help you safely return to work, hobbies, and daily life.

Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic health plays a vital role in overall well-being, yet it’s often overlooked. At True North Physical Therapy, our therapist brings over 7 years of specialized experience in pelvic floor rehabilitation and is a trained instructor in the field, combining advanced clinical expertise with compassionate, patient-centered care.

Throughout life—especially during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menopause, and after gynecological surgeries—the pelvic floor muscles can become weak, tight, or uncoordinated. These changes may lead to discomfort, pressure, pain, or bladder and bowel dysfunction. Pelvic Floor Therapy focuses on restoring proper muscle function through individualized, evidence-based treatment designed to improve strength, flexibility, coordination, and control.

Treatment is always private, respectful, and tailored to your specific needs.

Pelvic Floor Therapy Can Help With:

  • Urinary urgency and frequent trips to the bathroom

  • Overactive bladder

  • Urinary leakage or incontinence

  • Pelvic pain and pressure

  • Pain during intercourse

  • Vulvodynia

  • Coccydynia (tailbone pain)

  • Vaginismus

  • Scarring after gynecological surgeries (cysts, fibroids, hysterectomy)

  • Chronic low back pain related to pelvic dysfunction

  • Pelvic floor weakness after pregnancy and childbirth

Pelvic floor symptoms are common—but they are not something you have to live with. If you’re experiencing any of the above concerns, speak with your healthcare provider to see if Pelvic Floor Therapy is right for you. We’re here to help you feel stronger, more confident, and in control of your health.

POETS - POST OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT/EMPLOYEE TESTING

Our office provides POETs or Post Offer of Employment/Employee testing to all prospective employers and employees.

Post Offer of Employment Testing or Post Offer Employee Testing aka POET are valuable injury prevention resources for both employees and potential employers.

These tests compare a prospective employee’s physical capabilities to the physical demands required for the essential functions of a specific job.

The goal is to ensure that applicants are physically matched to the job they will perform, promoting job success, injury prevention, and minimizing associated costs. They are commonly used for jobs with high physical demands or considered high-risk occupations. Baseline data on an employee’s physical abilities can also be obtained.

Pregnancy & Postpartum Care

Using evidence-based techniques in a safe, welcoming clinic environment, our experienced therapist delivers compassionate, one-on-one care focused on restoring strength, mobility, and function. Most insurance plans cover these services, making care accessible when you need it most.
